The Akita or Akita Ken is a dogbreed from Japan. They are after the Akita Prefecture, where they used their origin and were named by Matagi (traditional Japanese fighter) for the hunting of wild animals, bears in particular. They are also sometimes referred to as Akita Matagi. Akita Matagi The name actually means "average bear-hunting dogs. Originally Japanese dogs were relatively small and no large breeds. But since the year 1603 Akita Matagis were used as fighting dogs. Not just for hunting, but also in professional fights, like those who organize the illegal today.
